Chant: The Hot Choice in the Isle of Wight

LEARNING the art of Gregorian chanting obviously appeals to Islanders, who have made it the most popular subject yet offered by the IW College, by rushing to enrol.
Thirty four people have signed up for the adult learning course Introduction to Gregorian Chant, one of an array of new religious and theological courses developed for the first time this summer by the adult education department.
The places also went in record time.
The course is being taught by Abbot Cuthbert at Quarr Abbey over four weeks and covers the history of Gregorian Chant, the theory and practice of chanting and the Gregorian Chant repertoire.
Students will also practise psalms, hymns, antiphons and canticles.
