Sacred Music: A Workshop in Gregorian Chant: McLean, Virginia

Study and sing Gregorian chant with Scott Turkington, legendary chant instructor, on October 17-18, 2008, at St. John the Beloved Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, Virginia. The goal is quite simple: to teach singers to sing as the Church is asking.

Turkington is the director of the Stamford Schola Gregoriania, and among the world’s leading conductors and teachers in the sacred music tradition. His workshop experience is extensive and renowned.

The workshop begins at 1:00pm on Friday and continues throughout the day on Saturday. The workshop choir will sing for Mass in the Extraordinary Form at 6:45pm.

The text is the Parish Book of Chant, which will be provided free to all registrants. The fee is $90, payable by check before the workshop. Make checks payable to St. John the Beloved Church. You must register in advance.

This workshop will be as fun as it will be enlightening. There is no higher artistic experience than the employment of one’s talent in the service of the liturgy, which means in the service of God. We hope to see you there!
