More Information for Chant Intensive Registrants – updated 6/03/09
The CMAA’s Chant Intensive course with Scott Turkington will take place on the Loyola University Lake Shore Campus.
* Arriving on campus is easy. Many of you will be flying in and are looking for information on transportation options from the two airports. Others will be driving and need directions to campus. All the information you need is right here. Here is a map of campus.
* Parking on campus will be available for $7 per day. Pull into the parking garage and tell the garage staff that you will be on campus for the chant course offered by the CMAA. The parking garage is secure and is the recommended spot for the duration of the week.
* Check in will be on Monday, June 15th from 11:am to 1:00pm in the lobby of Regis Hall. You will be greeted by Loyola Staff who will give you your room key, your meal ticket and a welcome packet, including information on local shops and restaurants, campus safety policies, emergency medical facilities and nearby drug stores. You will also be greeted by a CMAA representative. All course materials will be given to you and/or available for purchase at the first session in the Simpson Multi Purpose room, where the classs will meet all week.
* If you are not staying on campus, you will not need to check in at Regis Hall. Simply come to the first session at 1:00pm in Simpson Multi Purpose.
* Arriving late is not a problem. If you arrive between 1:00pm and 5:00pm, you may want to stop by Regis Hall briefly to get your room key and deposit your luggage, but try to get to the first session as soon as you can! There is a lot of material to cover in five days.
* Arriving early isn’t a problem either. If you arrive on campus prior to check in time, call Regis Hall staff at 773.508.6050. You may be able to check in to your room early. If not, a staff member will be able to provide you with a safe place to store your luggage until you do.
* Living in the dorms. Loyola will provide you with basic linens: sheets, blanket, pillow, and towel. Please bring along extras from home if you think you may need them. All dorm rooms have mirrors and clothes hangers, but you’ll need to bring a long your alarm clock and toiletries. Wi-fi is available all over campus, including in the dorms. Laundry facilities are available in Regis Hall. The machines take quarters, and laundry detergent can be purchased on site. If you find you’re missing something in your room, you will be able to be able to contact the dorm staff or campus liaison after hours.
* Meals. All meals will be taken in Simpson Dining Hall.Your full registration includes twelve meals. You may eat lunch on Monday, but then your last meal would be breakfast on Friday. Or if you begin with dinner on Monday, your last meal would be lunch on Friday. Additional meals are available in Simpson Dining Hall on a cash basis. A variety of entrees and a la carte items, including vegan options, are offered at every meal.
* Meals for day raters. If you have paid the day rate and are not staying on campus, you may purchase meals as you like on a cash basis in Simpson Dining Hall.
* Book Sales. Many titles, including additional copies of The Parish Book of Chant, will be available for purchase at the Chant Intensive Course. The book and resource tables will be set up in our classroom. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted for all purchases.
* Workout facilities. All Colloquium participants may purchase access to the Halas Sports Center, swimming pool included. Passes are purchased at he main desk of the Sports Center, and cost $10 per day. If you want to work out at no extra charge, you will be free to run on Loyola’s track.
* Schedule. The week’s schedule is available online and will be given to you at check in.
Check out time on Friday is 10:00am. The closing Mass is also scheduled for 10:00. We suggest you check out of your room before the Mass and the staff in Regis Hall will be glad to safely store your luggage for you until you depart campus. If you are staying through the weekend or will be attending the Colloquium the folllowing week, special instructions will be sent to you via email.
