The Mission San Diego de Alcalá mission church was the first in California. Founded in 1769, this remarkable and significant historical shrine provides an understanding and appreciation of the beginning of Catholicism in this corner of the world, so remote from the Mother Country of Spain and yet so similar. Today the Mission, serves as an active parish church and cultural center, and a wonderful setting to learn about the grandeur and excitement Catholic musical tradition.
The Workshop aims to familiarize people with the chanted responses and Ordinary prayers sung during the Mass.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn a few beloved chant hymns.
Everyone will be given ample resources for further study of this beautiful and integral part of our Catholic liturgical life.
