Sacred Music Workshop, Woodstock, Georgia
This workshop at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, November 9-10, 2007, Woodstock, Georgia, will focus on Gregorian chant reading and singing, as well as singing polyphonic music with a particular emphasis on phrasing and balance for a beautiful choral sound.
It occurs over two days, with sessions alternating between chant, as directed by Arlene Oost-Zinner, and polyphony, as directed by Jeffrey Tucker. Both session leaders are directors of the St. Cecilia Schola Cantorum in Auburn, Alabama, one of the leading Catholic liturgical choirs in the Southeast region.
The cost of registration is $30 or $20 for Saturday only. The Church is located at the corner of Trickum and Arnold Mill Rd. Take the Towne Lake exit off 575N. Questions? Call 770-591-7128. You can download the packet here.
This workshop is focussed mainly on the growth of the parish music program. But others are invited to attend as well, even those with no prior experience in singing Gregorian chant. Everyone is invited! The goal is to have fun, to learn, and to experience the prayerful sounds of sacred music as never before.
